What does it mean to be lead by the Spirit? Why do we own our lives to the Spirit vs. the flesh?
- We are not in debt to flesh, but to Spirit: Romans 8:12-13;
- Time of death? Baptism. Colossians 3:1-5 (cf. Rom 6)
- Only those putting to death the deeds of the flesh will live. Romans 8:14-15
- What does it mean to be led by the Spirit? Colossians 3:5-17
- The word which is the tool of the Spirit to inform us of the way of Christ.
- We take action to walk according to the way of Christ, and thus in the Spirit.
- How does the Spirit testify with our spirit? Romans 8:16-17
- The Spirit, the water, and the blood testify: 1 John 5:4-13
- We are buried in His baptism(water) in likeness of His death(blood) and resurrection(Spirit): Romans 6
- We are given the Spirit upon our obedience (Acts 5:32)
- The Spirit is a pledge of our inheritance (Eph 1:13-14)
- The Spirit, the water, and the blood testify: 1 John 5:4-13
- We are no longer slaves to sin and fear (Romans 6:15-19) because we have been put in Christ through faith in Him and by His baptism (Galatians 3:26-27).
