Who We Are
The Bible tells us of God’s desire for reconciliation with man, and gives us the steps to attain a close relationship with Him (2 Cor 5:18-19). Many think the Bible is an outdated book from history, unable to provide answers for the modern world. Yet, within the Bible is a wealth of timeless information on spiritual reconciliation with God (Luke 21:33; 2 Tim 3:16-17). The basic needs of men have not changed, and we can still learn from the examples in the Bible (Eccl 1:9; Matt 6:31-32; Rom 3:23).
Our View of the Bible

We believe that the Bible is inspired by God’s Holy Spirit and is the only record of God’s will for man on earth (2 Tim 3:16-17). Through simply reading and studying scripture, anyone can understand it (Acts 17:11; 1 Cor 14:33). In the pages of the New Testament, we find a record of the first century church. This is the church Jesus Christ shed His blood for (Acts 20:28b), the apostles preached about, and the early Christians were members of (Acts 2:47).
We feel that the solution to the vast religious division seen today is for the Bible to be the only source of religious authority for worship, doctrine, and morality. We believe that human creeds and catechisms cause religious division because they compete with the authority of the Bible. This clouds the ability to clearly see what the Bible actually says (Col 2:8). Jesus likened the word of God to seed in the parable of the sower (Luke 8:11). Likewise, we believe that if anyone sows the pure seed of the word of God it will produce exactly what God intended, Christians.
The members at the Eastside church of Christ are determined to be simply Christians, to speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where the Bible is silent. For this reason, we are not interested in man-made church doctrines but only in the New Testament blueprint. Using the Bible as our only guide, we seek to find how the first century Christians followed the instructions of Christ (Matt 28:18-20; John 12:49-50) and his apostles (John 16:13-15) and do the same. We have no ambition to be anything more than Christians, and we cannot be content to be anything less (Luke 11:28).
We maintain unity by using only the Bible as our authority. In matters of opinion we give way to liberty, and do all things in love (John 13:34-35). Please join us in studying the Bible and worshipping our Lord.
